As someone that just stumbled into this post, my post is that you should do it. Art is art and there is no need to limit yourself in terms of creativity, however, if you are that nervous about the reception either do a variation set where there is one smutty and one non-smutty version(cheesecake) to double-dip or make a sketch version or half-finished one and post it in a new newspost to gauge reaction.
You could also PM some of your fans to ask them if you are in a hurry and don´t want to deliberate too long on this.
That is my weighing in as the stranger looking in.
